Early Times Report SAMBA, May 6: The cultivation of Dragon fruit is gaining impetus in Samba district, thanks to the support services being provided to the farmers under the Government Schemes. The observations were made by a team of officers led by Director Horticulture Jammu (DHC) Gul Sayed during their visit to villages of Salmeri and Dhamore in Vijaypur Zone. The Director, along with District Level Subject Matter Specialist Samba Raivati Raman Sharma and HDO Dr. Manmohan Lal, visited the area and inspected dragon fruit orchards established by the farmers by availing support services being provided by the government under different schemes. During the visit, the Director interacted with the farmers and reviewed the progress of ongoing activities in the 6 Kanal Dragon Fruit Orchard of Neelum Gupta at Village Salmeri being developed under HADP scheme. The Team also inspected the 4.5 Kanal Dragon Fruit farm of Ranjit Singh at Village Dhamore - developed by the farmer by availing the benefits of Revised Modified High Density Plantation Scheme. Interacting with the farmers, the Director encouraged them to utilize departmental support, including technical guidance, subsidies and access to quality planting material, for achieving better yields and sustainable orchard management. |
