| PDP accuses govt of failure to protect honor of people | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 3- Lambasting Congress-National Conference coalition regime for its failure to contain killings of the innocent people, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that Omar led regime had miserably failed to protect dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a meeting of the senior party leaders at Jammu, PDP expressed grave concern over gang rape and killing of a woman and a girl in Shopian area of Kashmir Valley flaying the coalition regime for watching such gruesome incidents as mute spectator and trying to befool the masses by announcing inquiry one after another incidents. “Probe announced by the Government after the inhuman incident at Shopian is just an eye wash to befool the gullible masses”, party leaders said and pointed out that after formation of this regime killings of innocent people have been going unabated in the State. While demanding a thorough probe into the gruesome incident at Shopian, speakers warned that PDP will not remain a mute spectator to the misdeeds of the coalition regime. Speakers pointed that Jammu and Kashmir has been passing through a crucial juncture and failure of the government to protect lives and dignity of innocent citizens would prove disastrous for the State. Meeting reiterated party’s demand for immediate scrapping of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and handing over the internal security to state police, the former Chief Minister Mufti said that this step alone could ensure dignified life for the citizens of state who have pinned great hopes in democratic process. Meanwhile PDP workers staged demonstrations at Kotranka, Rajouri and Doda against gruesome incident at Shopian Kashmir.
