| CS stress on e-governance | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JUNE 03 –Chief Secretary, Mr. S. S. Kapur has said that good governance is imperative for providing efficient and hassle free services to the common masses at their doorsteps. Chairing a meeting on the recommendation of Working Group on good governance, the Chief Secretary said that e-governance is one of the main components of public administration by which people can get firsthand information about their day-to-day matters. Financial Commissioner Planning & Development, Mr. S.L. Bhat, Financial Commissioner, Home, Mr. Samuel Verghese, Principal Secretary, Information & Technology, Dr. Arun Kumar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Principal Secretary, Law, Mr. Akhtar Hussain Kochak, Commissioner/Secretary, Finance, Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, Commissioner Secretary GAD, Mr. Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Commissioner/Secretary Housing & Urban Development, Mrs. Naseem Lankar, Secretary, Revenue, Mr. Aijaz Iqbal and Secretary, Rural development, Mr. M. S. Khan were also present in the meeting. The Chief Secretary stressed upon introducing e-governance as it will provide cost-effective and quick services to the common people in getting their day-to-day matters like PRCs, revenue records, public distribution cards and registration regarding deaths and births settled promptly. He asked the Administrative Secretaries to explore and identify the ways to how better services can be provided to the people in a time-bound manner and work out modalities within two weeks for the purpose. He called upon the officers to be pro-active in solving people’s problems and also establish grievance cells so that people’s faith in the system is maintained. Mr. Kapur asked for simplifying procedures in various public utility services, as has been done for remittance of electric and water dues. He said procurement procedures should also be made easy so that delay tactics are reduced and people get benefited in the shortest possible time. He said Right to Information is one such step that the State Government has recently implemented towards making the administration more accountable and responsible. Mr. Kapur said that employees would be imparted necessary training in a phased manner to get them acquainted with latest techniques to dispose the cases quickly.
