| J&K Police recovers 430 grams of heroin-like substance, Kingpin held | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, May 14: Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking under the #100-Day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS achieved a major success by recovering approximately 430 grams of heroin-like substance and arresting a key drug peddler involved in narco smuggling activities.
On 14/05/2026, acting on reliable information, a special naka was established by the police team of P/S Billawar at Bhinni Bridge. During naka checking, one person was apprehended who disclosed his identity as Munish Kumar S/O Kala Ram, R/O Chak Drab khan, Tehsil & District Kathua.During his personal search, 15.23 grams (approx) of heroin (chitta)-like substance along with one mobile phone was recovered from his possession. In this connection, FIR No. 89/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at P/S Billawar and investigation was immediately taken up.
During sustained interrogation and further investigation, the accused disclosed that additional contraband had been concealed at his residence.Subsequently, a search warrant was obtained from the Judicial Magistrate for conducting a house search. During the search operation, approximately 415 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from a locked wardrobe inside his house at Kathua.
Preliminary investigation has further revealed that the accused is allegedly linked with major narco smugglers operating from foreign countries and was receiving consignments routed through Punjab from across the border. Further investigation and searches are underway to unearth the larger narco smuggling network operating within the district as well as in other states and foreign links connected to the case.
The entire operation was led by the SHO Police Station Billawar and SDPO Billawar under the supervision of SP Operations Upper Kathua
