| 24788 got jobs in Poonch under NERGA | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JUNE 04 –A record number of 24788 households have been provided employment, besides 100 days of work has been provided to 668 job card holders under NREGA in district Poonch, 240 works have been completed under BADP in Rajouri district;, 1012 and 619 works have been completed under 12th Finance Commission in Udhampur and Reasi districts respectively.
This was given out in Annual Performance Review meeting of Rural Development Department for the districts of Poonch,Rajouri, Udhampur and Reasi. The meeting was chaired by the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar and was attended by the legislators of the districts, besides Secretary Rural Development, Director Rural Development Jammu and senior officers of the department.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Sagar said that the government is well aware about the problems being faced by the people living in far-flung areas and in order to mitigate their sufferings and raise their living standard various welfare schemes have been launched. “We are taking care of the fact that the benefit of these goes to the targeted population and in this regard we have involved the local legislators of these areas so that they are properly implemented. Clear instructions have also been passed to the officers of the department to take a local representative into confidence while implementing a scheme or preparing project reports so that they are target specific”, he maintained.
Calling for creating mass awareness about the schemes in the far-flung areas, the Minister directed the officers of the department to hold regular meetings with the local representatives so that the benefits of the schemes reaches to the people and they avail maximum benefit of the same.
