| Comply with Court orders or appear in person, HC to PDD Commissioner | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jun 04- In a contempt petition filed by Lakshman Singh Jamwal, Justice Nirmal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Jammu Wing today directed the Commissioner/Secretary Power Development Department to comply with the order passed on December 28, 2006 on or before next date of hearing or otherwise appear in person on the next date of hearing.
Earlier, Justice Singh, after hearing Advocate NP Kotwal with Advocate Veenu Gupta appearing for the petitioners and Deputy Advocate General, S Hakim appearing for the State, observed that the respondents have filed the status report wherein it has been admitted that 60 posts of Junior Engineers (Mech) are lying vacant in the Power Development Corporation, upon this Court directed Commissioner/Secretary PDD to make compliance of the Court order.
The case of the petitioner was that he was working as JE (Elect) in PDD and was senior to one Surinder Thappa who was regularized after inducting in mechanical cadre and is presently posted as Xen, while as a similar treatment has not been accorded to the petitioner. Court on December 28, 2006 passed order that if the petitioner is found entitled to such relief and his case is found analogous to the case of Surinder Thappa, the same benefit be given to petitioner too. When the order of the High Court was not complied with, the petitioner filed present contempt petition in which Justice Singh directed Commissioner/Secretary Power Development Department to make compliance of order or appear in person.
