| AMARNATH YATRA | | Railways to put reservation counter at Pahalgam | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jun 4- Looking forward to improve passenger centric facilities across various railway stations along Kathua-Udhampur railway route senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Ferozpur division) Devender Kumar on Thursday said that they have submitted proposals costing Rs 30 crore to the railway headquarter and the same would be taken up in the year 2009-10.
Interacting with media persons here today after chairing a review meeting of senior railway authorities Devender Kumar said that proposals to construct foot over- bridges and high level railway platforms have been submitted to the railway headquarters keeping in mind problems faced by the railway passengers during their visit to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion the senior railway officer also made an announcement that during Amarnath yatra railways would open a temporary railway reservation counter at Pahalgam to help large rush of pilgrims plan their return journey and book their return tickets. Giving details of other facilities which will come up at railway stations, Devender Kumar said that he has been briefed by the local railway authorities of their various needs and the same would be looked into in order to extend more facilities for the passengers.
He also made an announcement that very soon railway authorities would recruit coolies as per the demand projected by the railway stations. He said in Jammu 80 coolies, 6 in Kathua and 10 in Udhampur will be appointed soon.
