Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 21: A training programme on "Investigation of Traffic Accident Cases" commenced today at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, with the aim of enhancing the investigative capabilities and professional skills of police officers in handling traffic accident cases through scientific and evidence-based methods. The programme has been designed to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge regarding investigation of road traffic accidents, including scene-of-crime management, collection and preservation of evidence, legal provisions, forensic aspects, accident analysis and adoption of modern investigation techniques. The inaugural address was delivered by Rajesh Sharma, IPS, Dy. Director, SKPA, who emphasized the importance of professional and scientific investigation of traffic accident cases. He highlighted that proper accident investigation plays a crucial role in identifying causes of accidents, ensuring justice and strengthening road safety mechanisms. He advised the participants to adopt a meticulous, technology-driven and evidence-based approach while dealing with accident cases. During the programme, experts and faculty members will conduct lectures and interactive sessions on various aspects of traffic accident investigations to enhance the practical understanding and professional competence of the participants. The course is expected to significantly strengthen the investigation skills of police personnel and contribute towards better enforcement and road safety management across the Union Territory.
