| Rash driving by school children threat to society | | | Early Times Report
Kathua 6 Jun- Due to the negligence of Traffic police and RTO, the school going children are freely driving their bikes without fear as these agencies are allowing them to do so. The increasing cases of accidents due to rough driving of school going chaps poses an alarming threat to the society, but traffic police and RTO have failed to check the menace of plying vehicles un-authorizedly that too by the teenaged children. Besides, these young boys, Matador drivers of Kathua- Lakhanpur route via Kalibari are adding threats to this problem.
Once in year the traffic police organize road safety week and aware people about the traffic rules but after that they never feel panic about this problem. In past few months, scores of young boys got injured in road accidents. This data is increasing day by day as every day we are reporting such cases.
Talking to ET correspondent President Mahila Adhikar Sangathan Kailash Kumari alleged that concerned authorities are issuing licenses without checking that one is capable of driving or not. Agents actively working inside the Regional Transport Office Lakhanpur, without completing formalities, are getting the licenses by greasing the palms of officers. Who is responsible for all that she questions? Another social worker Updesh Andotra said that RTO office had become hub for agents. She called for stringent action against the erring officials and those driving vehicles without valid licenses.
