Early Times Report BARAMULLA, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana participated in a plantation drive organized at Government Degree College Boniyar, Baramulla. Addressing students, faculty members, and officials present on the occasion, Khatana said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharat is playing a leading role in global climate change initiatives and environmental protection efforts. He highlighted India's commitment to renewable energy, sustainable development, and international cooperation in combating climate change. Emphasizing the importance of afforestation, Khatana stated that trees act as the "lungs of the Earth" by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. He noted that plantation not only helps protect the ozone layer and maintain ecological balance but also prevents soil erosion and contributes to biodiversity conservation. The Rajya Sabha MP asserted that the Modi Government's initiatives in promoting renewable and clean energy are remarkable and have positioned India as a global leader in sustainable development. He further said that the vision of Viksit Bharat under Prime Minister Modi is a living example of balancing environmental protection with technological advancement and industrial growth. The plantation drive was organized by Mushtaq Noshari. The programme was attended by Principal Prof. Rehmat Syed, members of the academic staff, students, and officials from the Forest Department, who collectively participated in the plantation campaign and pledged their commitment towards environmental conservation. The event concluded with a call for greater public participation in plantation drives and sustainable practices to ensure a greener and healthier future for coming generations. |
