Early Times Report JAMMU, June 5: In observance of World Environment Day, Traffic Police (Rural) Jammu organized a plantation drive across its jurisdiction to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about the importance of afforestation and sustainable living. The drive was led by SSP Traffic (Rural) Jammu, Shri Farooq Qaiser, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Shri Sukhdev Singh, DySP Traffic Samba-Kathua, all DTIs, SOs and other officials of the unit. As part of the initiative, SSP Traffic (Rural) Jammu, while proceeding from Jammu to Poonch, planted a sapling at the PWD Rest House, Sunderbani in the presence of Probationary DySP Ms. Shakshi Nagar, SHO P/S Sunderbani Inspector Mohan Lal, DTI Sunderbani , SO Sunderbani and other staff. Simultaneously, DySP Traffic Samba-Kathua conducted a plantation drive at the office premises in Jatwal, District Samba, accompanied by Inspector Varinder Singh, DTI Samba and other subordinate staff members. Similar drives were launched by other DTIs and SOs of the unit in their respective areas. A large number of saplings were planted across the districts of Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch symbolizing the department's commitment to fostering a greener, healthier and more sustainable environment. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Traffic (Rural) Jammu, Shri Farooq Qaiser, highlighted the vital role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, combating climate change, and ensuring environmental sustainability. He urged citizens to actively participate in afforestation initiatives and environmental conservation efforts, emphasizing that collective action is essential to safeguard natural resources for future generations. The plantation drive concluded with all participants taking a pledge to continue supporting environmental protection initiatives and to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives, reaffirming their commitment towards a cleaner and greener future. |
