Devotees throng to Sudhmahadev Shrine on first day of Sudhmahadev Mela

The three days long historical Sudhmahadev Mela today opened at the ancient temple shrine of Lord Shiva in village Sudh near Chenani in Udhampur district.
On the first day of the Mela over 60,000 devotees drawn from various parts of the Jammu region and the adjoining areas of village Sudh paid obeisance at the temple Shrine About two lakh devotees are expected to participate during this three days long Mela.
Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust president Th. Divakar Singh along with a team of the highly learned Pandits of the Trust is already camping at Sudhmahadev to facilitate devotees in performing Poojas and other related rituals and to have darshan of Lord Shiva during the Mela days. A team of the Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust employees has already been deployed at various sacred places like Pap-nashni and Gouri Kund for the convenience of devotees. President of the Trust is personally supervising these arrangements.
Locals and devotees from outers places after taking bath at the sacred Papnashni spring offered their obeisance to Lord Shiva. For the convenience of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine and performing rituals, the Trust has constructed a spacious Yagyshala recently and has also organized a Langer for the devotees. Parikrama of the Ttemple complex has also been widened in addition to the installation of Lord Ganesha’s idole this year.
The District Administration Udhampur has also made all adequate arrangements for the devotees under the instructions of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ajay Kumar Khajuria. The road from Chenani to holy Sudhmahadev shrine has been improved. Special drinking water facilities augmented at various places. Electric lights ensured and security and Police Bandobast made. Sufficient numbers of buses have been made available for pilgrims intending to visit the Mela-site.
