| Many institutes resolve to save environment | | | Early Times Report Jammu June 6 To mark World Environment Day, various activities were organized by Model Institute of Education & Research at Model Academy B C Road & Residency Road, MIER College of Education with a great zeal and enthusiasm. Environment Education Unit of MIER College of Education celebrated ‘World Environment Day’ by organizing painting competition & exhibition of teaching aids in the college premises. The students of B. Ed, B. Ed Special Education (MR) and PGDCA took part in this competition. The students prepared models, charts and painting on the theme noise, air and water pollution, conservation of resources, save earth and save life etc. This colorful illustration by the students demonstrated their involvement in the maintaining and ensuring the favorable environment in future. To start with the occasion Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER, Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER appreciated the work of the students and highlighted the importance of environment in the present scenario. Both speakers encouraged the B.Ed students to plant more trees so that a healthy environment can be created and maintained in future. Dr. Surinder Kour, Administrator, Shashi Koul, Co-MR and the teaching faculty of the College and many senior officers of the administration visited and shared useful information on the important aspects of environment. Model Academy, The prestigious school of MIER celebrated the day by launching a tree plantation drive and organizing inter house painting competition on the theme ‘Save Environment’ in both its BC Road & Residency Road Branches. On this occasion, Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Principal RR and Mrs. Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal BC Road, cultural incharge Mrs. Usha Chunni were present along with the staff of the school. The winners of the competition were awarded with the trophies and certificate. Students of Residency Road also prepared ‘Brown Carry Bags’ with the slogans Save Earth, Save Environment, Plant More Trees, Say No to Plastic etc. and gifted these bags to the shopkeepers to spread a message on the theme. Children from Humming Buds, preschool of Model Academy along with their teachers participated in fun filled and informative activities related to environment. Society for Environmental Protection & Human Rights (SEPHR) has organized One continuing campaign on Climate Change under National Environment Awareness Compaign-2008-09, Sponsored by Ministry of Environment & Forest, Govt. of India through WWF-J&K. has lunched plantation drive at Universal Public School, Bareri. The campaign was formerly lunched by the President of the SEPHR, Mohan Snehi on the Eve of World Environment Day in presence of school staff and villagers. The students and staff of the School were given lecture on the importance June 5 and were asked to come forward for saving environment which could lead us for saving our future from environmental disaster. Further giving detail of the plantation drive Gen. Secretary SEPHR Satish Syal said that this drive shall continued by the Society volunteers and members at different areas involving villagers and school till the end of this year. After brief lecture students of Universal Public School has planted about 100 trees in their school premises and area surrounding to their for better future of their.
