Early Times Report JAMMU, June 12: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police achieved a major success by registering two separate cases under the NDPS Act involving recovery of commercial quantity heroin in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bahu Fort. In the first case, during the intervening night of 10/11 June 2026, a police party of Police Station Bahu Fort, while conducting routine naka/night checking in the Narwal area, intercepted a suspicious Hyundai i20 vehicle (White Colour). During checking, one person identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh S/o Abdul Majeed Sheikh R/o Persha Mohalla, Bijbehara, District Anantnag was apprehended. Upon personal search, 309.78 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. In this regard, FIR No. 142/2026 U/S 8/21/22/25 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation has been taken up. In another significant recovery, a police party of Police Post Narwal, while on naka checking at SRTC Petrol Pump behind Wave Mall, Jammu, intercepted a car bearing registration No. JK01P-7194 coming from Transport Yard towards Wave Mall. During checking, two persons travelling in the vehicle disclosed their identity as Parvaiz Ahmed S/o Mohd Amin R/o Baramulla (Driver) and Nasir Ahmed S/o Bashir Ahmed R/o Baramulla (Co-driver). During search, 307 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of Parvaiz Ahmed, while 20 grams of heroin-like substance along with one digital weighing machine was recovered from the possession of Nasir Ahmed. Accordingly, FIR No. 141/2026 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation has been initiated. Both recoveries involve commercial quantity of contraband substance, indicating the possible involvement of an inter-district drug trafficking network. Further investigation is underway to ascertain backward and forward linkages and identify other persons involved in the narcotics trade. Jammu Police reiterates its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs and appeals to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug peddling in their areas. |
