Early Times Report RAMBAN, June 12: The Motor Vehicle Department Ramban, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan and in close coordination with the District Police under the supervision of SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, conducted a major enforcement drive across the Sangaldan, Gool and Kalimasta areas of the district. The enforcement drive was carried out by the Motor Vehicle Department team on the directions of the Transport Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir, to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety. During the drive, more than 95 vehicles were thoroughly checked for adherence to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and other road safety norms. A total of 20 vehicles were e-challaned for various violations, including driving without a valid licence, riding without a helmet, operating vehicles without insurance, overloading, overcharging, operating without valid permits and carrying out unauthorised alterations to vehicles. The violations attracted e-challans amounting to Rs 1,50,700. As part of the enforcement action, one vehicle was seized, while three driving licences were recommended for suspension owing to serious violations of traffic rules. The enforcement agencies have urged vehicle owners, drivers and commuters to strictly follow traffic regulations, carry valid documents and adhere to all road safety measures to avoid legal action. The Motor Vehicles Department and District Police will continue to conduct regular enforcement drives across the district to curb traffic violations and ensure the safety of all road users. |
