ASSOCHAM J&K Council Explores Collaboration with DTNBWED for Skill Development and Workforce Capacity Building

JAMMU, June 13: The ASSOCHAM Jammu & Kashmir Council today held a productive interaction with the delegation of the Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education & Development (DTNBWED), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, led by Col. Neeraj Sharma, Director General, DTNBWED, in Jammu.
The meeting focused on exploring avenues of collaboration in the areas of skill development, workers' education, entrepreneurship promotion, workforce capacity building, and industry-oriented training programmes aimed at enhancing employability and strengthening the industrial ecosystem of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the interaction, both organizations deliberated on the importance of equipping the workforce with industry-relevant skills and creating opportunities for youth through structured training and awareness programmes. Discussions were also held on conducting joint workshops, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building initiatives across various sectors in the Union Territory.
The DTNBWED delegation included Dr. Pankaj Rastogi, Regional Director, DTNBWED, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, and Chanan Singh Toor, Chairman, Regional Advisory Committee, DTNBWED, Jammu.
ASSOCHAM was represented by Manik Batra, Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K Council, Bhupesh Gupta, Co-Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K Council, along with other members of the Council.
Speaking on the occasion, Manik Batra emphasized the importance of industry-government collaboration in creating a skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of businesses and emerging sectors. He highlighted ASSOCHAM's commitment towards supporting initiatives that promote employment generation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth in Jammu & Kashmir.
Bhupesh Gupta noted that skill development and workforce education are critical pillars for industrial growth and competitiveness. He expressed confidence that collaboration between ASSOCHAM and DTNBWED would help create meaningful opportunities for youth and workers across the region.
The interaction was followed by the first Council Meeting of ASSOCHAM J&K Council for the financial year 2026-27, wherein members discussed key initiatives and strategic priorities for strengthening the industrial and economic ecosystem of Jammu & Kashmir. Deliberations focused on membership expansion, sectoral engagement, policy advocacy, skill development initiatives, and upcoming industry events planned by the Council.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to work together towards enhancing workforce capabilities, promoting skill development, and contributing to the socio-economic development of Jammu & Kashmir.
Shivang Mahajan from KC Group & CA Aditya Suri were also present in the meeting.
