Early Times Report JAMMU, June 13: Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Poonam Sethi, accompanied by Nodal Officer Shri Amarnath ji yatra (SANJY), Dr. Sanjay Sharma, and Dr. Ila Gupta, Assistant Director, Directorate of Health Services Jammu, conducted a comprehensive review of healthcare arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026 in District Kathua. During the visit, the Director Health Services inspected the healthcare facilities and medical preparedness at the Lakhanpur Entry Point, the gateway to Jammu & Kashmir for the pilgrims. She reviewed the deployment of medical teams, availability of essential medicines, ambulance services, emergency response mechanisms and other healthcare facilities being established for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. DHS also visited the two designated Langar sites in Hiranagar Block, where dedicated medical teams will be deployed to provide healthcare services to the pilgrims. She assessed the arrangements for first aid, emergency care, disease surveillance and availability of medical supplies at these locations. A detailed review meeting was held during the visit, attended by Medical Superintendent GMC, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), District Health Officer (DHO), all Block Medical Officers (BMOs), District monitoring staff and Block ASHA Coordinators. The meeting focused on healthcare preparedness, manpower deployment, inter-departmental coordination for ensuring efficient healthcare delivery during the pilgrimage. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Poonam Sethi emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts by all stakeholders to ensure the availability of quality healthcare services throughout the Yatra period. The Director Health Services appreciated the efforts of the District Health Administration and reiterated the commitment of the Health Department towards ensuring a safe, healthy and successful Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026. |
