Early Times Report JAMMU, June 16: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Jammu & Kashmir Branch (NIRC), in collaboration with the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, AU-1, Jammu, today organised a Public Outreach Programme on the Income Tax Act, 2025, at ICAI Bhawan, Canal Road, Jammu. The programme was attended by Shri Kachoo Mehboob Ali Khan, IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Jammu, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, along with Shri Satbir Singh, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-1, Jammu, as Special Guest, and Shri Mohd Nooh Siddiqui, IRS, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Circle-1, Jammu. CA Amit Gupta, Chairman, ICAI Jammu & Kashmir Branch, welcomed the dignitaries and delegates, highlighting the significance of the Income Tax Act, 2025 in simplifying compliance and reducing litigation for taxpayers. This was followed by the inaugural address of the Chief Guest and a keynote address by CA Pardeep Gandotra. Mohd Nooh Siddiqui delivered a detailed presentation on the provisions of the new Income Tax Act, 2025, and introduced the educational content and AI-powered chatbot developed by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to assist taxpayers. This was followed by presentations from the Chartered Accountants' fraternity by CA Jatin Malhotra, Vice-Chairman, and CA Ayush Sawhney, Executive Member of the Branch, who shared the professional perspective on the practical implications of the new law. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round, allowing members and delegates to seek clarifications directly from the officials, followed by the felicitation of the guests by the Management Committee of ICAI J&K Branch. The vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Anjesh Bhartiya, Income Tax Officer, Ward, Katra. The event saw active participation from Chartered Accountants, tax professionals, and members of the trade and business community across Jammu, reflecting the continued collaboration between ICAI and the Income Tax Department in promoting awareness and ease of compliance under the new legislative framework.
