Shastri urges FM, raise income tax exemption

Jammu, June 7: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President, Subash Shastri has urged upon the Union Finance Minister to raise the income tax exemption limit to Rs. 3.00 lacs in the ensuing budget in view of steep rise in the prices of essential commodities.
Addressing NMC workers rally at Brahman Sabha here today, Shastri said that with price rise and inflation salaried class is facing a lot of economic hardships, adding that raising income tax exemption from 1.50 lacs to 3.00 lacs would be genuine measures to provide some relief to them.
Pleading the cause of all cadre of the state govt employees, Shastri appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene personally and ensure that all the anomalies in the SRO-93 are removed so that all sections of the salaried calss are benefited optimally from the implementation of 6th pay commission in the state. He urged upon him to consider removal of anomalies in the said SRO to satisfy all sections of the salaried class. He demanded that the arrears on account of 6th Pay Commission implementation be released in two installments.
Shastri pleaded that all the allowances and perks which have been made available to the Central Government staff under the 6th Pay Commission report be also provided to the state government employees so that they could also be brought at par with their central counterparts.
Pleading the cause of daily rated workers, casual labourers, adhoc, consolidated and contractual employees, Shastri emphasized for their time bound regularization. He further said their economic conditions are very tough due to non-payment of their wages in time. Several resolutions were adopted at the rally which included release of wages of Motivators working in IWDP besides their regularization, Conversion of COLA into DA of PSU employees and timely release of wages.
Among those who also addressed the rally included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Kasturi Lal, Chaman Lal Bhagat, Sukh Dev Singh, Parshotam Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Ram Lal, Rampal Sharma, Sham Singh, A. Malik, Mohan Lal, Dalip Kumar and Barkat Ram.
