| ICELA hail ban on polythene | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: Indian Council For Enviro-legal Action (ICELA) Convenor Ashok Sharma has welcomed the ban on use of Polythene in J&K by the State Government w.e.f 8th of June 2009. As per press release Sharma said that the ban on polythene use was long pending demand of the lovers of environment and stands accepted now. Sharma demanded shifting of slaughter house and dairies from the township of Jammu to suitable places to maintain sanitation and keep the Jammuties diseases free. He further demanded the adequate disposal of the urban waste (both bio-degradable and non bio-degradable) of the township of Jammu and Srinagar to save river Surya-Putri Tawi and Dal Lake from further pollution. Among others who joined the statement include Ch. Vidya Sagar, J.D Singh, Dr. Y.P Sawhney, Dr. J.L Gupta and Dr. Satish Sharma.
