JMC to enhance rent traffic

JAMMU, June 7: A meeting of Finance and Planning Standing Committee was held under the Chairmanship of Dy. Mayor Dharam Vir Singh Jamwal in his office chamber on in which it was decided that the outstanding amount on account of licence fee for installation of towers within the Jammu Municipal Corporation limits amounting to Rs. 67.00 lacs should be recovered from the BSNL immediately as it is causing huge losses to the Municipal Exchequer. It was also decided that the hoarding of Selvel Pvt. Ltd. whose contract has expired with Jammu Municipal Corporation for advertisement and the writ petition filed by the agency has also been dismissed by the High Court, should be removed immediately and fresh tenders should be floated by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, so as to save guard the financial interests of the Corporation. The issue of encroachment of lanes and bye-lanes also come up for discussion and the committee asked the enforcement wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation to clear the payments on regular basis so as to provide convenience to the passersby. Besides this, it was also decided the enhance the rent of residential quarters/flats to the extent of 20% and minimum rent of Rs. 500/- per month for dwelling units. The rent for open spare will also raised to Rs. 5/- per sft. per month. The committee stressed upon that various among of the corporation should gear up and deliver better civic services to the citizens.
The members of the committee also desired that the coffee houses should be made foundational at Ambphalla and Circular Road immediately.
Municipal Commissioner, Mubarak Singh also presented a draft budget proposal for the current years amounting to Rs. 62.00 crores and apprised the committee of the details of expenditure on different heads to be made in current year.The members of the committee Ashok Kumar Dogra, Zaffer Javed Ahmed, Shub Chander Verma, Rajesh Gupta, Chaman Lal Bhagat, Ashok Singh Manhas, Tilak Raj Gupta besides Joint Commissioner(A), Joint Commissioner(W), Chief Accounts Officer and all Executive Engineers also attended the meeting.
