Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 19: The three-day International Yoga Day celebrations (June 19, 20, and 21) commenced today with great enthusiasm at Har Ki Pauri, Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu. The opening ceremony marked a historic beginning to this grand yoga festival, organized by Vishwa Yog Sansthan (World Yoga Institute). The event was inaugurated by MLA Vikram Randhawa, who ceremonially hoisted the Yoga Flag and appealed to the public to embrace yoga as a way of life for better health, fitness, and well-being.
Addressing the gathering, Yog Guru Acharya Dr. Karan emphasized the importance of yoga in modern society. He stated that yoga has been an integral part of his life since childhood and called upon children, youth, senior citizens, and women to adopt yoga for a healthier and happier future. He stressed that yoga can play a vital role in guiding the younger generation away from drugs and addiction while providing them with positive energy and direction.
Dr. Karan highlighted that this initiative sends a strong message from Jammu & Kashmir to the entire nation, inspiring people to embrace yoga and build a healthier society. He noted that the ceremonial hoisting of the Yoga Flag at Har Ki Pauri symbolizes a new wave of wellness and awareness spreading across the region.
The event was supported by former Corporator Shyam Basan, Krishan Kumar Arora, and several dedicated social workers and volunteers who joined hands to promote yoga and community well-being.
Vishwa Yog Sansthan (World Yoga Institute) continues its mission of promoting yoga across India and internationally, with activities extending from Jammu & Kashmir to various parts of India and several countries around the world. The organization's primary objective is to encourage a healthy, drug-free society and inspire the youth through the practice of yoga.
A special invitation has been extended to all citizens, families, students, government employees, social organizations, and media representatives to come together on 20th and 21st June and participate in this grand celebration of health, unity, and wellness. The organizers have urged everyone to join the movement and make International Yoga Day 2026 a memorable and successful event.
The sessions will be held daily at Har Ki Pauri, Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu, from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM.
Various government departments, government organizations, and public institutions are extending their cooperation and support to make this event a grand success.
"Come together, celebrate yoga, stay healthy, and spread the message of a drug-free and energetic society."
