Early Times Report RAJOURI, June 20: Indian Army has always been at the forefront in providing selfless assistance to local AWAM. On 18 Jun 2026, the Vehicle Recovery Team of Indian Army at Samote successfully recovered a civilian Tata Commercial Vehicle from Shahpur Village area of Rajouri District. The incident occurred on 16 Jun 2026, when the said vehicle met with an accident and plunged into a gorge approximately 150 meters deep. Despite sustained efforts by locals residents, recovery of the vehicle could not be achieved due to the extremely steep gradient of nearly 80 degrees and the considerable depth of the gorge for the past 48 hours. Subsequently, the vehicle owner, Sandeep Kumar S/o Suresh Kumar, accompanied by Advocate Amit Sharma approached the local Army unit seeking assistance. Responding promptly, the Army undertook a meticulously planned and professionally executed recovery operation in challenging terrain. Demonstrating exceptional technical expertise, coordination and perseverance the recovery team successfully retrieved the Tata Commercial Truck after an intensive six hours operation. The recovered vehicle was safely handed over to the owner. The local populace expressed deep appreciation and conveyed their sincere gratitude, lauding the Indian Army for its unwavering commitment and dedicated service towards the welfare of the AWAM. |
