| RIK welcomes Panun Kashmir merger; calls for struggle for homeland | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 07- 'Roots In Kashmir', (RIK) a global Kashmiri Pandit youth initiative, today welcomed wholeheartedly the merger of two factions of Panun Kashmir and Panun Kashmir Movement led by Dr. Agnishekhar and Ashwani Kumar Chrunjoo. RIK founder member and prominent national activist Aditya Raj Kaul, who was invited to be part of the official resolution passing ceremony at Jammu Club today, greeted the two PK leaders on the occasion. He said, 'the struggle for homeland has stepped into a crucial phase with this unity move among two community stalwarts. It will bring in a new ray of hope and a fighting zeal among common Pandits living in exile for last two decades.' 'It is a very positive development and historic in every sense of the term. This 7th June of 2009, will hold special significance in the hearts of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits, just as it did with the resolution of Margdarshan '91 and formation of the popular homeland movement called 'Panun Kashmir' he added. In days to come, RIK along with its worldwide chapters plans to work closely with the Panun Kashmir team in spreading awareness on the plight of Kashmiri Pandit - Internally Displaced Person's (IDP's) and working together to demand justice and human rights for the sidelined community at national and international forums. Kaul further said, "In last decade the movement became weak due to several factors but today the community has been showered with new strength to carry forward this 20 years long battle with open hearts". RIK also gave a call to the remaining faction still working separately under the leadership of Dr. Ajay Chrunjoo to respect the cause and aspiration of the people by merging along with Dr. Agnishekhar and Ashwani Kumar Chrunjoo to build a stronger momentum. Kaul said, "The unification of Panun Kashmir will be a set-back to the separatists struggling to keep open their shops in Kashmir. The religious fundamentalism of separatists has led to Kashmir losing its identity - the Kashmiri Hindus. But the day isn't far when homeland would be carved comprising the regions of the valley to the East and North of river Jhelum (Vitasta)".
