Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 7- Taking serious note of the atrocities committed by the troops of 39 Rashtriya Riffles (RR) on a couple at village Kash Blahari, senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Mendhar Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan today demanded strict action against the culprits. He warned to launch agitation if authorities failed to take action against the guilty.
Hussain, who met Inspector General of Police Jammu range K Rajindra today to apprise him about the incident, said that troops of 39 RR entered into the house of one Mukthiyar Ahmed of village of Kash Blahari in Mendhar.
Without any official order the soldiers started search in the house despite the fact that some female members were also present inside the home. As Mukthiyar Ahmed opposed this act of the soldiers, they fired at him with their service weapons. Two bullets pierced into the body of Mukthiyar Ahmed. The troops also gave severe thrashing to Barkat Bi wife of Mukthiyar Ahmed.
Shockingly the troops ran away from the spot after leaving their victim in the pool of blood. After getting information about the incident, locals rushed to the spot and shifted Mukthiyar Ahmed to Mendhar hospital.
Hussain Khan during his meeting with the IGP demanded that strict action against the culprits indulging in committing atrocities on innocent people. He also warned to launch a stir if authorities failed to take strict action against the culprits involved in attacking innocent couple.
Following intervention of PDP leader, the IGP assured that the injured couple would be airlifted to Jammu for advanced treatment. He also assured that he would take up the matter with the Army authorities to take action against the guilty.
Former Minister regretted that incidents of human rights violation have been going unabated and state government has failed to control such inhuman incidents. He regretted that killing of innocent people at the hands of security forces has been going unabated and the coalition regime has been helplessly watching such inhuman acts.
He demanded immediate scrapping of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and handing over the internal security to state police. He further said that scrapping of AFSPA could ensure dignified life for the citizens of state.
