| ‘Choo Leinge Aasman’ staged at Natrang’s Sunday Theatre | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 07- The new experimental play ‘Choo Leinge Aasman’ conceived and directed by Balwant Thakur was staged here today in Natrang’s weekly theatre series Sunday Theatre. The play, product of a theatre workshop, was exclusively organized for the girl participants. The script of the play developed by the participants themselves based on their reflections of the society on a thematic concept of Balwant Thakur. A group of ten young girls were assigned to develop a vision through which they were required to find faults in the society and the world around them. Interestingly, they instead of reflecting upon others lives bravely chose to expose their own generation for the mess they have created for themselves.
The play opens at a dream sequence where a group of young girls is shown dreaming to fly high in the life and move beyond the boundaries of this world. For them this world is too small to meet their aspirations and expectations. But suddenly the dream world fizzles out the moment she wakes up to the realities on a big thrash by her mothers for being late to the college. A big fight between the mother and the daughter makes the beginning of the day. The daughter blames the generation gap and the mother credits daily TV soaps for spoiling youngsters. The day moves on, a group of girls is at a bus stop and have already wasted an hour in look for the mini-bus of their choice which could offer beat to the ears and feast to the eyes. By the time half of the classes are already over, the group land in the college. Here starts a series of mischievous activities from bunking classes to teasing teachers. The play unfolds an unending sequence of events reflecting the wrong doings among collage going girls. On one hand where girls are outshining by making history in academics and extra curricular activities, still there is a class which is not aware of the damage they are making to their career, life and the society in general.
