| JBA STRIKE : HIGH COURT SERVES NOTICES TO STATE GOVT ,OTHERS | | | Jammu, July 15,: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notices to state government through chief secretary, commissioner/secretary law, bar council of jammu and kashmir, Jammu bar assocaition and union law secretary while hearing a writ petition of the President of Bar Association Jammu Province (BAJP) A K Sawhney seeking inter alia that ongoing lawyers’ strike should be declared as illegal.
The notices were issued by Justice JP Singh on Saturday after hearing the writ petition filed by AK Sawhney in the High court on Friday.
The petition seeks that strike of the JBA be declared as illegal and Judgment of the Supreme Court of India passed by the five Judges - Constitution Bench in the case of Harish Uppal V/s Union of India should be implemented.
Meanwhile, the president of the Jammu bar association VR Wazir said since they had not received the copy of the notice as yet they cannot comment further.The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed on July 20 and the court has given two days of time for the notice to be served.
