| Chandigarh court fixes Oct 3 for next hearing | | Sex scandal | |
Chandigarh, Sep 25 A local court today fixed October three as the next date of hearing on the bail applications of 14 accused, including two former ministeres, in the Jammu and Kashmir sex racket case.
Sessions Judge B S Mehndiratta fixed the date of next hearing on October three and observed that only six cases had been transferred to the Court here from Jammu and Kashmir so far.
The Supreme Court on September four had transferred the cases of the 14 accused from Srinagar to Chandigarh for trial after they were chargesheeted by the CBI.
The counsel for Raman Mattoo pleaded that the former minister be granted bail "as he has been charged under a same section that of Iqbal Khanday (senior Kashmir bureaucrat and another accused in the case)" on the grounds of parity.
However, the Judge pointed out that Khanday had been granted interim bail on health grounds.
On September 16, the Sessions Judge had said he needed time to go through the case files and had fixed today's date for hearing. |
