| Winning start by Kathua, Jammu | | Inter-district divisional level football competitions | | Early Times Report POONCH, June 07: District Jammu and Kathua made a winning start to strengthen their position in league round on the opening day of the three-day inter-district divisional level football tournaments, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at twin venues of Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Spots Stadium, here today. While Kathua trounced district Rajouri 9-1 in a one-sided contest of under-17 age category, Jammu district blanked Rajouri 9-0 in under-14 group. Matches were officiated by Rajinder Singh, Vipan Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Tarlochan Singh, Ramesh Kumar and Rajinder Singh. The competitions were declared open by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Dr Rattan Lal Bellum, who was chief guest in the inaugural today. Speaking to the participating teams and other distinguished gathering, Dr Bellum said that sports teach discipline and inculcate spirit of sportsmanship. He welcomed the young footballers and wished for their comfortable stay in the town. Prominent among others present were Principal of host School, Kamal Rattan Verma and District Officer Rajouri, Rajinder Singh. Earlier, organizing secretary of the tournaments, Mohammed Din presented a report of department activities and also briefed the gathering about the event.
