Early Times Report SUNDERBANI, June 23: Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani successfully organized a College Festival on June 23, 2026, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (100 Days Campaign) with the theme "Awareness Today, A Better Tomorrow." The programme was aimed at creating awareness among students and the community about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free society. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff. The programme commenced with a Drug-Free India Pledge, wherein all faculty members, non-teaching staff and students pledged to contribute towards building a drug-free nation and spreading awareness against substance abuse. A variety of awareness-oriented and creative activities were organized, including a Debate Competition, Dogri Skit, Waste-to-Art Exhibition, Song Performance, and an Educational Film Screening. A special attraction of the festival was the screening of an animated awareness movie by Prof. Atal Bharti, which effectively conveyed the message of drug prevention and highlighted the importance of making informed and healthy life choices among youth. The cultural segment featured a soulful and inspiring song performance by Shivani Sharma, which received appreciation from the audience. The anti-drug message was further reinforced through an impactful Dogri presented by Survi Sharma and Nitish Sharma, sensitizing the audience to the social, psychological, and economic consequences of substance abuse. The Debate Competition provided a platform for students to express their views on the growing menace of drug addiction and the collective responsibility of society in combating it. The winners of the competition were: *First Prize: Survi Sharma *Second Prize: Sarbajeet Kour *Third Prize: Shreya Verma The Waste-to-Art Exhibition showcased the creativity, innovation, and environmental consciousness of students. Artistic exhibits prepared from discarded and waste materials were displayed by Aman Raina, Shreya Verma, and Palki Sharma, highlighting the importance of recycling and sustainable living. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Vandana Verma congratulated all participants for their enthusiastic involvement and commendable performances. She emphasized the importance of collective efforts in eradicating drug abuse and encouraged students to become ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in their communities.
