Early Times Report REASI, June 23: Reasi Police achieved another significant success by promptly solving a theft case reported by a Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrim and arresting two accused persons with the stolen property On 21.06.2026, a complainant, Akash Mishra S/o Krishan Kumar Mishra R/o Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, reported at Police Station Katra that he had visited the Holy Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine along with his family. During the pilgrimage, after reaching Charan Paduka, the family halted for some time to take rest. Upon waking up, they discovered that one of their bags containing two mobile phones and cash had gone missing. The complainant suspected that the bag had been stolen by some unknown person(s). Acting on the complaint, FIR No. 201/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation was immediately set into motion. During the course of investigation, the police team, through sustained technical analysis and human intelligence, identified and apprehended the accused persons: Karmat Ali S/o Sakhi Mohammad R/o Bagtha, District Reasi, aged 28 years. Ajay Singh S/o Shankar Singh R/o Chamba Chadna, District Reasi, aged 27 years. During their search and interrogation, the police recovered Cash of Rs600 alonwith the stolen mobile phones worth Rs 30000 approximately . The recovered stolen property has been taken into police custody and will be handed over to the rightful owner after completing the necessary formalities. District Police Reasi appeals to all pilgrims to remain vigilant and take due care of their belongings during the pilgrimage. Citizens are also encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activity or incident to the nearest police unit. |
