Jammu, June 07: With annual Amarnath yatra set to commence from June 15, over 1.55 lakh people have so far registered themselves for the pilgrimage.
"Over 1.55 lakh devotees have been registered for Amarnath pilgrimage at 110 registration counters across the country and online till today. The highest number of 52,700 have been registered from Delhi zone," sources said.
Of the total registered, 71,700 people have been registered for pilgrimage via Baltal route, while 82,300 others will trek via Pahalgam route, they said.
As many as 31,400 pilgrims have been registered in Mumbai zone, 2,700 in south zone, 31,600 in Chandigarh-Mohile zone, 1,700 in Kashmir zone and 4,000 in Jammu zone.
The yatra to the cave shrine of Lord Shiva in South Kashmir was postponed from June 7 to June 15 in view of heavy accumulation of snow on the routes leading to Amarnath.
The two-month long pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high shrine will conclude on August 5.Registration of pilgrims from the Pahalgam route will close on August 2 while that for the Baltal route will close on August 4. Last year, over 4.5 lakh pilgrims had participated in yatra.
