Medias gag enforced in Valley
6/7/2009 11:35:53 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, June 7: Finding itself corned from all sides by unending protests and demonstrations against blatant violation of human rights, the Omar Abdullah government today unleashed a media gag in Kashmir to manipulate a selective flow of information in the besieged Valley.
The Government today put a partial ban on local cable based news channels of 10 districts in Kashmir valley. The ban has been put on news channel for showing instigating news items.
According to report, now the news channels can relay the news items- those should not be instigating-for 15 minutes only. The channel has been banned to relay instigating news.
The ban on the News Channels has come following the tension that erupted in the Shopia after bodies of two women were found last week.
It is worth mentioning here that Nilofer and Aasia were found murdered under suspicious condition recently. Their kin accused the security personnel of raping and murdering them.
