| Natrang condoles death of Habib Tanveer | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 8: Natrang, at a meeting of artists, today condoled the death of legendary theatre personality Habib Tanveer who passed away at Bhopal after a brief illness. Describing his long association with one of the most respected and acclaimed playwright and theatre Director Habib Tanveer, Natrang Director Balwant Thakur said that he was an inspiration and a driving force for many young theatre directors who diverted towards indigenous theatre. He was the one who brought respectability for Indian theatre at the international level and will be remembered for his outstanding work for centuries to come, he added. Balwant Thakur further said that at many occasions, Natrang and his theatre group Naya Theatre have performed together. The major events which Habib Tanveer and Natrang have played together include Natya-Utsav (Shimla-1987), Nandikar’s National Theatre Festival- Kolkatta 1989, National Theatre Festival-Bhopal-1990, Bharat Rang Mahotsav- Delhi 2002 and many more. Natrang has the credit of having played two of its plays ‘Charan Dass Chor’ and ‘Chandi Ka Chamcha’. Two minutes silence was also observed to pray for peace to the departed soul. Among others who attended the condolence meeting included Arvind Anand, Manoj Bhatt, Sumeet Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Gaurav Jamwal, Pratibha Heer, Rohit Verma, Hemant Bholla, Rahul Singh and Mohammed Yaseen.
