| Power employees discuss issue | | | Early Times Report Jammu , June 8: To highlight the demands of power employees, Provincial Power Employees Union (PPEU) unit M&RE Division III Jammu organized one-day conference here today. The conference was held under the leadership of Shakti Gupta, chairman, PPEU and Yash Paul Gupta, president of the union. Speaking on the occasion, Shakti Gupta lauded the role of power employees in all channels of power pre and post generation, transmission and distribution systems up to the door steps of the consumers. He said that the working conditions of the departmental staff house remained in apathetic state of affairs resulting in not only discouragement of the power employees facing discrimination but also perpetuating risks to their lives. Gupta highlighted the demands which included extension of benefits of SRO 149 to all ITI matriculates and non ITI, non matriculates, benefit of skilled pay scales to all employees by settlement of pending cases of retired employees and clearance of their pending cases, regularization of all daily wagers who have completed 7 years services on the pattern of SRO 64 of 1994 read unit in SRO 381 of 1981 and others. On the occasion, All ITI diploma holders after disassociating from ITI Diploma Holders Association joined PPEU. Yash Paul Gupta while welcoming the ITI diploma holders assured them very honourable treatment within union besides taking up their all pending demands before the administrative authorities. Meanwhile, Satish Chander was appointed as organizing secretary, who shall furnish complete list to the union president for consulting proper committees of the ITI Diploma Holders. The functionaries of the PPEU were also present in the day-long conference.
