| 10585 hectares of land brought under high yielding variety in Rajouri | | |
RAJOURI, JUNE 08 - An expenditure of Rs. 14.48 lakh has been incurred for carrying out different activities by the Agriculture department in Rajouri district during the last financial year.
This was disclosed by the District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, S. Jaipal Singh during a review meeting with officers of Agriculture department here today.
While reviewing the achievements, it was disclosed that 10585 hectares of land was been brought under high yielding variety crops and for this purpose 3715.13 quintals of HYV seed of paddy, maize, wheat, pulses, oil seed and fodder have been distributed among the farmers during the period. For yielding bumper crops, the department distributed 5788.70 tones of chemical fertilizers among the farmers. The department has also covered an area of 7450 hectares under plant protection scheme consuming 7.41 quintals of pesticides by the farmers while distribution of 50 spray pumps to the farming community.
Under Vegetable Development Scheme, 48.20 quintals of vegetable seeds have been provided to the growers while as 40 vegetable demonstration plots have been laid. About 199 agriculture implements have also been made available to the farmers. Under dry land development scheme, 32 storage bins have been provided to the farmers on 50 percent subsidy while 506 hectares have been covered under 50 percent subsidy on fertilizers. Similarly, four demonstration plots one each of 0.4 hectares size have also been laid over an area of 154 hectares.
Under Mushroom development scheme, 5000 mushroom trays have been established while 3500 spawn bottles have been distributed during the period. 104.87 quintals of honey stood produced both privately and departmentally.
