| Teachers exposed to new skills, techniques | | All India Sainik Schools Teachers Training | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 09: About 110 in-service teachers are being taught new skills and techniques of teaching in the ongoing All India In-Service Teachers Training at Sainik School Nagrota, near here. Inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Varun Sahni, the teachers from all over the country are taking keen interest in seminars and lectures by qualified faculty in this 21-day long programme. The training starts from early morning with Yoga exercises and meditation by the experts of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Jammu. Teachers actively take part and learn the traditional Yog Aasnas for their better teaching learning processes in classroom. Dr Rakesh Sharma from Sainik School Talaiya (Jharkhand) was confident that Yoga not only improves his way of life but will help him in better teaching learning in class. Dr Chand Trehan organized a workshop on adolescence wherein teachers participated actively. Shiv Kumar, a Hindi teacher from Sainik School Amravatinagar in Tamil Nadu described that the workshop has improved his skill of handling teenage students in class and hostels. Teachers were also informed about the composition of blood, aspect of blood donation and healthy life style by Dr TR Raina, Head of the Department of Blood Bank, Government SMGS Hospital, Jammu. Dr Raina cleared various misconceptions regarding blood donation while motivating teachers to carry the noble message of blood donation to children. Dr Sameer Gupta, Associate Professor, The Business School, University of Jammu, advised teachers on tax planning, financial management and matters related to money. Prof SC Gupta, Prof SK Khosa, Prof SD Sharma, Prof PN Kotru, Prof Deepshikha Kotwal, Prof KV Razdan, Prof Dev Anand. Dr Dalbir Singh, Prof P.N Koul, Prof AP Singh Prof Mishri, Dr Gurdev, Prof SM Sheikh among others enlightened the teachers on various minutest details of subject matters. Games, project work, computer classes by NIIT are the regular day features during the training.
