EARLY TIMES REPORT POONCH, June 09: Beating Purani Poonch Cricket Club (PPCC) by 18 runs in the opening tie, Royal Cricket Club (RCC) consolidated its position in Fifth Kargil Hero’s Cup Cricket Tournament, organised by Glamorous Cricket Club at Degree College grounds, here. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, RCC set a target of 179 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 25 overs, which, in reply, PPCC could not chase and bowled out for 160 runs in 20.4 overs. The league-cum-knock out tournament, wherein 15 teams are taking part, was declared open by Major Anil Chada of 35 Field Regiment. Prominent among others present were District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mohammed Din, Sham Lal, senior hockey coach and Nazir Charak. The competitions are being organised under the guidance of organizing secretary, Vijay Kumar by Pankaj Sharma, Manik Shah, Dr Sonu and Parvez Ahmed.
