| Omar asks party MLAs to take care of election promises | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June 09 – Urging the National Conference legislators to reach out to the people in their constituencies and maintain constant report with them the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah said ‘the legislators are the bridge between the public and the Government’. He asked them to get involved actively in identifying the requirements of people at grass roots. Addressing the legislators of his party at a meeting convened here today, the CM asked the legislators to carry forward the development message of the Government to the people and apprise them of the steps Government being taken for the welfare of people. “You have to come up to the expectation of people and deliver effectively by raising the public centric issues in all the forums of the Government seeking speedy redressal of grievances”, he told the legislators. Abdullah said that NC during the campaigning for assembly and parliamentary elections has made promises to the people across the State and the legislators have responsibility to identify and discuss these with the Government for evolving a comprehensive strategy to fulfill the promises made under a phased program. Describing constant public rapport significantly important for a legislator to get feed back and identify area specific demands, Abdullah urged upon the NC legislators to give highest priority to this aspect and remain available to people in their constituencies. “Your response to public needs should be quick and you should be also quick to bring these into the notice of Government for attention and resolution”, he maintained. Chief Minister asked the NC legislators to be actively involved in public centric programs and strive hard to achieve progress for the people of the constituencies they represent. “Your work should strengthen the people’s confidence in you”, he said and told legislators to work tirelessly for the public good. The legislators brought to the notice of Chief Minister various matters and issues pertaining to the development and public needs of their areas.
