Natrang organizes ‘Natrang Children’s Theatre Camp-09

Jammu, June 10: ‘Children’s Theatre Camp-2009’ was inaugurated here today by Natrang Director Balwant Thakur at an exclusive function held at Natrang Studio Theatre Jammu.
According to a handout the forty day theatre event is being coordinated by Sumeet Sharma and assisted by Aarushi Thakur and Mohit Sharma. And this Natrang Children’s Camp is one of the most sought after theatre training programme which was started in the year 1990 and have the credit of having produced over twenty children plays which also include internationally acclaimed plays like ‘Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai’ ‘Aap Hamare Hain Kaun’ ‘Bhag Beta Bhaag’ ‘Charan Daas Chor’ ‘Rang Badalti Duniya’ ‘Beauty is a Beast’ and ‘Hum Hain Naa’.
Spokesperson of Natrang Theatre claimed that Natrang Children’s unique theatre work is now known all over the world and has won critical acclaim for its creativity and innovation. A new children’s theatre methodology is being evolved in Natrang’s work which suits their sensibilities. Many products os Natrang Children’s Camp are now accomplished actors of Film, Television and Theatre.
In his inaugural address Balwant Thakur said that the training being offered in this camp is based on highly intellectual exercises developed in the institutions like Oxford and Cambridge of UK. Sharing his own experiences of working in Oxford University he said that theatre in whole of Europe is being used as one of the most effective medium of human development.
All the participating children will get an opportunity to participate in a major play which will be performed at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Sumeet Sharma, who is a post graduate in Dramatics having specialized in Children’s theatre will be the workshop coordinator. Aarushi Thakur- a student of St. Stephens Collage, Delhi University will be the Assistant Director of the workshop. Other resource person include Rohit Verma (Visual Arts) Suraj Singh (Music) and Mohit Sharma (Theatre Games). In addition the children will have the opportunity to work with Balwant Thakur who will conduct exclusive exercises during the workshop days.
