Early Times Report
RAJOURI, June 25: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) Senior Leader and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Thursday asserted that the Omar Abdullah-led government has ushered in a renewed era of development and progress in the border areas of Jammu division, with special emphasis on road connectivity, healthcare, and education.
He was addressing a mega public gathering at Kalakote, organized by Constituency In-charge Kalakote and Additional Spokesperson Jammu, Thakur Yashu Vardhan Singh. The programme was chaired by District President Rajouri Rural, Ashok Sharma, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from party workers, local leaders, and residents from across the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Surinder Choudhary launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of neglecting the interests of the people of Jammu, particularly those residing in border areas.
"The BJP wasted precious years of Jammu's development through hollow promises and misleading narratives. Not a single major requirement of the people, particularly in the border belt, was fulfilled during its tenure. The much-publicized 'double-engine government' failed to deliver on its commitments and could not even lay the foundation of a single significant road project or healthcare institution in Kalakote," he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the present elected government under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to addressing the long-pending developmental needs of the border population.
"Today, the people living in border areas are witnessing an unprecedented outreach from the Omar Abdullah-led government. Our administration is focusing extensively on strengthening road infrastructure, improving healthcare facilities, and enhancing educational opportunities. These sectors remain our top priorities, especially in far-flung and border regions that have suffered neglect for years," he added.
Senior National Conference leader and Provincial President Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the historic role played by successive National Conference governments in improving the living standards of people residing in border areas. He reiterated the party's commitment to inclusive development and equitable distribution of resources across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Constituency In-charge Kalakote, Thakur Yashu Vardhan Singh, also addressed the gathering and raised several issues concerning local residents, including infrastructure development, public services, and welfare measures. Responding to the concerns, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary assured the gathering that all genuine issues would be addressed on priority and that the government remains committed to ensuring their speedy redressal.
Th. Rameshwar Singh former DDC and Shamim Akther former DDC they also addressed the gathering and emphasised the people to strengthen secular fabric and brotherhood.
The event reflected the growing confidence of the people in the National Conference-led government and its developmental vision for the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
