Mental Health: A Topic to talk about..
6/25/2026 10:21:44 PM
PRIYANKA PANDITA

Mental health is just as important as physical health. But many of us still ignore it. We feel sad, stressed and think “it will pass”. Sometimes it doesn’t. It still impacts us in many ways. People should take care of their mental health as just they care about their physical one. It’s important for people of every age like students, employees, even elders worrying about their problems too deeply can impact their mental health. Today, students are under huge pressure. School, coaching, exams, results, it never ends.
The recent NEET paper leak is a perfect example. Thousands of students studied day and night for months. They gave up sleep, fun, and family time.
Then the news came: paper leaked. Exam cancelled. Re-exam later. This broke many students. Some felt hopeless. Some had panic attacks. Some even thought of giving up. Why? Because when your hard work feels wasted, your mind suffers. Stress, anger, and fear take over. Many students started doubting themselves. “Am I good enough?” they ask.
This is not just about NEET. Any big exam, job loss, or family problem can hurt our mental health. The problem is, we don’t talk about it. In India, people still say “dimaag ka doctor” as a joke. But going to a counsellor is normal. Like we go to a doctor for fever, we should go for stress too.
What can we do about it? Let’s say First, talk. Share with friends, parents, or teachers. Second, take breaks. Don’t study 12 hours non-stop. Third, sleep and eat on time. Fourth, if you feel very low for weeks, ask for help. Do consider all these steps as their is nothing greater of importance then your mental health. Schools and parents must also understand.
Marks are not everything. A happy, healthy mind is more important than 100%. Let’s stop making exams a life-or-death thing. Mental health is real. Let’s care for it, before it’s too late. If you or someone you know feels very sad or stressed, talk to a trusted adult or call a helpline. You are not alone.
