| Reasi police detains habitual drug peddler under PIT NDPS Act | | | Early Times Report REASI, June 27: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police has detained a habitual drug peddler under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, 1988. The detained person has been identified as Vishal Sharma alias Murli S/O Mohan Lal Sharma. He is a habitual drug peddler and was previously involved in the following NDPS cases registered at Police Station Katra: FIR No. 266/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. FIR No. 65/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. Considering his repeated involvement in narcotics-related activities, his grey Wagon-R bearing Registration No. JK21A-0829 had also been seized earlier under Section 107 of the BNSS. On June 26, 2026, in compliance with Detention Order No. 601/RA/Detention/599/CC-7922/62 issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Vishal Sharma alias Murli was formally detained under the PIT NDPS Act, 1988. After completing all legal formalities, he was lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah. Reasi Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking .
