| DC Bandipora reviews Road Safety Measures, seeks Time-Bound ATR from Departments | | | Early Times Report BANDIPORA, June 29: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Monday chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) at the Mini Secretariat here, pressing departments for stricter accountability and time-bound action on pending road safety directives. Reviewing the status of Action Taken Reports (ATRs) from concerned departments, the DC underscored the need for closer inter-departmental coordination and directed all line departments to ensure prompt implementation of road safety measures to reduce accidents and protect commuters. She sought comprehensive details of road safety works executed during 2025-26 and called upon departments to furnish projections for works proposed in the current financial year 2026-27, enabling the district to review and monitor its road safety action plan more effectively. The DC directed the Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B) Circle Bandipora (Member Secretary DRSC), to consolidate ATRs from all line departments within one week. The SE was also instructed to circulate an online reporting link to facilitate timely submission and monitoring. Stressing that road safety is a shared responsibility, the DC urged all stakeholder departments to ensure swift execution of committee directives, with particular focus on infrastructure upgrades, identification of vulnerable road stretches, and implementation of preventive measures. The meeting was attended by the Chief Education Officer; Executive Engineers of R&B and PMGSY; Assistant Regional Transport Officer; CEO Municipal Council Bandipora; Executive Officers of Municipal Committees Sumbal and Hajin; representatives of BRO and NHAI; and other concerned officers. |
