| Free Cancer Screening Camp successfully organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 2: A large-scale Free Cancer Screening Camp was successfully organized at Dorri Dagar, Block Chowki Choura, under Project AAROHI, with the objective of promoting cancer awareness and facilitating early detection through free screening services.
The initiative was supported by the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) and implemented by the Human Organisation for Patronisation of Environment (HOPE) as part of its ongoing commitment to improving access to preventive healthcare services.
The camp was graced by Shri Satish Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Transport, Jammu and Kashmir, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the efforts of the organizing team in bringing quality healthcare services to the grassroots level. He emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare and encouraged people, especially women, to undergo regular cancer screening for early detection and timely treatment.
The medical team was led by Dr. Surbi Kudiyar, Breast Cancer Specialist, who conducted screening and interacted with the beneficiaries. A comprehensive awareness session was delivered by Dr. Surbi Kudiyar, who educated the participants about breast and cervical cancer, common risk factors, early warning signs, available screening methods, and the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment. She also highlighted the role of a healthy lifestyle, regular self-examination, and periodic medical check-ups in reducing the burden of cancer. Dr. Kudiyar encouraged the beneficiaries to spread awareness within their families and communities and to make preventive healthcare a regular practice.
The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from the local community, with a large number of women availing themselves of the free screening and consultation services. The initiative significantly contributed to enhancing awareness about cancer prevention and the importance of early detection.
Such initiatives under Project AAROHI continue to strengthen healthcare outreach and ensure that quality cancer screening and awareness services reach rural and underserved communities across Jammu and Kashmir. |
