| Police detects illegal transportation of mining material; dumper seized | | | Early Times Report
Doda, July 2: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of mining material, I/C Police Post Karara under the jurisdiction of Police Station Thathri detected a case of illegal transportation of mining material and facilitated action against the violator. Today, a police party of Police Post Karara intercepted a dumper bearing registration No. JK06C-9205 near Bhella Morh during routine checking. GPS-tagged photographs of the vehicle were taken at the spot. On noticing the police party, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene. Subsequently, two police personnel were deployed at the spot to secure the vehicle and maintain surveillance. Later, the driver returned and produced an e-Challan/Form-F purportedly authorizing the transportation of mining material. Upon verification, it was found that the vehicle was transporting mining material without valid authorization at the time of interception. Accordingly, the matter was immediately brought to the notice of the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Doda for necessary action. After examining the facts and relevant records, the DMO Doda imposed a penalty of ₹20,000 on the vehicle for illegal transportation of mining material (dust) in violation of the prescribed mining regulations. Doda Police remains committed to strict enforcement of laws relating to illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of mineral resources and shall continue to take firm action against violators to safeguard public resources and uphold the rule of law. |
