| Ahead of session, speaker asks for decking up Assembly complex | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JUNE 10: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone has asked the concerned to make a comprehensive Plan for parking of vehicles in the compound of newly constructed Legislature Complex. He also directed the concerned to remove the prefabricated huts constructed around the complex. The Speaker said this here today while chairing a high level meeting of officers of various departments convened to review the arrangements for shifting to new accommodation. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Mr. Masood Samoon, Commissioner/ Secretary, General Administration Department, Mr. Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Kh. Farooq Ahmad Renzu, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Mr. Basir Ahmad Khan, Director Estates, Managing Director JKPCC, Secretary Legislative Assembly, Secretary Legislative Council and senior officers of Law, Information, Floriculture, Police, Power and Telecommunication departments attend the meeting. Threadbare discussions were held on various issues like sanitation, cleanliness, power supply and beautification of the premises of the complex. It was informed in the meeting that 4 kanal and 2 marlas proprietary land have been acquired and the money has been deposited in the Bank. The same will be payable to the land owners after clearance from Financial Commissioner, Revenue. The Speaker directed the telecom authorities to install telephone connections in the complex as early as possible without any alteration in the allotted telephone numbers. The Speaker also asked the JKTDC authorities to ensure canteen facilities on the subsidized government approved rates. The JKPCC authorities informed the meeting that the complex was ready and sought inventory within 3 days. In view of Chief Minister’s desire to conduct next session in the new complex, the Speaker called for making all facilities readily available. He asked the concerned agencies to expedite the task of finishing touches to the new Legislature Complex.
Khajuria asks masses to approach Petitions Committee for grievances’ redressal Srinagar, June 10- To mitigate the problems and grievances of the general masses and to provide timely succor to the people, the Committee on Petitions met at J&K Legislative Assembly Lobby under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ashok Khajuria, today. The Chairman stressed upon the Members of the Committee to make the functioning of the committee more effective. He asked for publicizing the working of the committee through print and electronic media so that the common people become aware about the functioning of the committee. Mr. Khajuria said that by giving wide publicity to the deliberations of the committee, people would come to know about the forum working at the Legislative level for redressing grievances of the general masses. The meeting was attended by legislators S. Rafiq Hussain Khan, Mr. Kafeel-ur-Rehman, Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, Mr. Sukhnandan Kumar, Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan and senior officers of the J&K Legislative Assembly. It was decided in the meeting that the committee will convene its next meeting on June 24, 2009.
