| Reasi police tightens noose on drug peddlers; 3.6 gram heroin recovered | | | Early Times Report REASI, July 2: As part of the ongoing 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan', Reasi Police continues its sustained drive against drug abuse and narcotics trafficking across the district. On 01.07.2026, a police party of Police Station Katra, while performing naka checking duty at Balni Naka, Katra, intercepted a three-wheeler (Auto) bearing Registration No. JK14L-0421 for routine checking. The driver disclosed his identity as Dinesh Kumar S/O Parma Nanda R/O Dera Baba, Tehsil and District Reasi. During the search, the police party recovered 3.6 grams of heroin (Chitta) along from his possession. In this regard, FIR No. 217/2026 has been registered at Police Station Katra under Sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act and the accused has been taken into custody. The recovered contraband has been seized as per the prescribed legal procedure. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered narcotic substance and to identify any forward or backward linkages involved in the illegal drug network. Reasi Police reiterates its firm commitment towards eradicating the menace of drug abuse under the 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan' and appeals to the public to actively cooperate by sharing information related to narcotics trafficking. |
