Early Times Report Jammu, June 10: As the coalition government runs into its sixth month with very little to showcase on promises both coalition partners –National Conference and the Congress –made with people during elections, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today had a brainstorming session with the top of bureaucracy to find out where exactly the state stood. This was the second comprehensive meeting the Chief Minister had with administrative secretaries. The first was, of course, the much talked about meeting in second week of January when he set out a 100-ageda for governance. It is significant to note here that Omar’s meeting with the Administrative Secretaries comes a day after he met the National Conference legislators. Incidentally, the agenda at both tables was same –“be responsive to public issues”. In the meeting, Financial Commissioner Planning and Development SL Bhat informed, through a presentation that projects worth Rs. 4,905.90 crore in power, roads, education, rural development, revenue and other sectors were under-execution in J&K under State sector. He said the Central projects in the sectors of industries, agriculture, home and revenue worth Rs. 6,910.96 crore are also being implemented in the State by State agencies. Bhat said Central sector projects implemented by the Central agencies in the sectors of power, roads, IT, tourism, health and civil aviation involve over Rs. 17,139 crore. Addressing the officers, the Chief Minister asked them to gear up government functionaries at all levels to deliver on ground to the satisfaction of the people. He said administration is the hub of development process and its responsiveness to public grievances should form benchmark of good governance. The Chief Minister reviewed the development of all sectors and stressed on completing the schemes within the stipulated period which will ensure timely benefits to the people. He said thrust is required to carry forward the development programmes speedily in all areas with special focus on growth and progress of far-off areas.
