The moment the ‘I’ inside you dies, you return to the state in which you were born. When you entered this world at the moment of your birth, you were in the state of absolute zero. But as you attained the age of three, the ego-the ‘I’-was born. This sense of ‘I’ comes from your parents first, through the concepts of ‘my’ mama, ‘my’ papa. Thus, these fundamental attachments of ‘Me’ and ‘Mine’ remain rooted in us. From that point on, the true spiritual journey begins—the journey of letting go of our deep-rooted attachments. But how do we remove them ? They can only be released by the One that brought you to this stage of your journey. This is why we regard the ‘True-Master’ as the ultimate parent. This is the deep truth of ‘Guru-Maat-Pita’, the Guru who is both Mother and Father. Why did the Guru specifically called Maat- Pita– Mother and Father? Why not an Uncle, an Aunt or some other title? It is because our parents are the first people who help us develop our sense of “I”. Due to which, our attachment to them often becomes the deepest and strongest, connected to our ego. When our attachment to the parents is released, the ‘I’ is lost. Because this is the last worldly relationship bonded with the lower ‘I’ (ego) and it must be dissolved into the supreme relationship; the capital ‘I’, the pure ‘I’, the true self which we call the ‘True-Master’. We see this ultimate dissolution in the life of Guru Nanak Dev, Angad and Mardana completely surrendered until their small, lower ‘I’ dissolved into the capital ‘I’ - the pure, divine consciousness of Guru Nanak Dev. Just as Guru Angad became one with Guru Nanak Dev, John and Mathew became one with Jesus, Sariputra and Moggallana became one with Buddha, Meera Bai merged into Sant Ravi Das, Sahjo Bai merged into Sant Charan Das. At that stage, the pure ‘I’ arrives. - the capital ‘I’ of universal consciousness. And when this capital ‘I’ comes, it ultimately returns to zero. It is the state of total, absolute zero. So, that state of zero, encapsulates the whole Godly world - complete God. Therefore, the self dissolves back into the Creator, because the individual soul is directly connected to the Supreme Power - the ultimate powerhouse. Likewise, when a soul dissolves into the ultimate powerhouse - the God - everything changes. Earlier while living in the materialistic, ‘Mayavi’ world, they were praising God only to demand something. When this impure ‘I’ and ‘My’ praises God, it always demands something, and that very transaction binds you to the next cycle of birth and death. But when praise happens continuously, twenty-four hours a day without any demand or supply, it comes naturally. This is because nothing is left inside the seeker other than God. When you reach this state, God is experienced everywhere - while eating, walking, sleeping or talking. Therefore, the selfish praise of a worldly person is completely different from the natural praise of those Godly figures.
